AUGUSTA, GA, Aug. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hawk Law Group, through its community outreach initiative Hawk Helps, hosted the third annual Bookbag Bash on July 11, 2026, at Bell Auditorium in Augusta, Georgia, providing backpacks, school supplies, and access to community resources for more than 500 local students preparing for the upcoming school year.

Held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the free community event brought students and families together for a back-to-school morning centered on practical support and community participation. In addition to receiving essential supplies, attendees could enjoy music and character appearances and connect with local organizations offering community resources.

The 2026 event also represented an expansion of the backpack donation effort. One donor contributed 500 backpacks, while approximately 150 additional backpacks were donated through the Bookbag Bash Amazon wish list. The combined support helped provide materials for students from kindergarten through 12th grade across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).

“Bookbag Bash brings together donors, volunteers, businesses and community organizations around a practical need facing families as the school year begins,” said Lindsey McCullough of Hawk Law Group. “The support provided for this year’s event helped more than 500 students receive backpacks and school supplies, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to making the event possible.”

For families preparing for a new school year, the cost of supplies can add another consideration to an already busy season. Bookbag Bash was established in 2024 as an annual Hawk Helps initiative focused on helping reduce that burden for families in the CSRA. The first event helped prepare more than 1,000 students for the school year, and the initiative has continued with an annual community event.

The third annual gathering continued that effort while bringing together donors, volunteers, local businesses and community organizations. Their contributions supported the distribution of backpacks and school supplies and helped create an event where families could access additional local resources in one setting.

Hawk Law Group said the continued participation of community partners has been an important part of the Bookbag Bash. The 2026 backpack donations included support beyond the primary donor contribution, with the Amazon wish list providing another way for members of the community to participate in the supply effort.

The event is part of the broader Hawk Helps program, which includes community involvement initiatives. Bookbag Bash has become one of the program’s annual K–12 efforts in the Augusta and greater CSRA area, with an emphasis on practical assistance for students and families ahead of the school year.

For families, the event offered support in more than one form. The backpack and supply distribution addressed an immediate back-to-school need, while the presence of community organizations allowed attendees to learn about resources in the area. The combination kept the focus on students while recognizing the wider network of organizations and individuals supporting the community.

The scale of the 2026 donation effort was notable. With 500 backpacks provided by a donor and roughly 150 more contributed through the Amazon wish list, the initiative expanded the ways community members could help prepare students. Volunteers and participating organizations added another layer of support by helping make the July 11 event possible and accessible to families.

Bookbag Bash remains focused on the beginning of the school year rather than on a single-day distribution. Its annual format gives Hawk Helps an opportunity to bring community partners together around a recurring need and to build participation from one year to the next. The 2026 event continued that model in Augusta, bringing together practical school supplies, family activities and connections to community resources.

As planning for future events develops, community participation will remain central. Businesses, nonprofit organizations and other community groups interested in contributing to future Bookbag Bash events can explore opportunities for sponsorships, donations or partnerships with Hawk Helps.

Following the 2026 event, Hawk Law Group intends to continue growing Bookbag Bash and welcomes local businesses and organizations interested in supporting future events through sponsorships, donations and community partnerships. Organizations interested in participating can connect with Hawk Law Group through its website for information about the firm and its community initiatives.

The Bookbag Bash reflects a community-based approach to back-to-school support, with contributions coming from donors, volunteers and organizations. By bringing those resources together, the initiative provided more than 500 students with backpacks and school supplies for the 2026–27 school year while creating an opportunity for families to connect with other resources available in the CSRA.
